Holiday shopping is upon us! Let’s not make it easy for the “Grinch” aka porch pirates ruin your holidays this year by following a few holiday shopping safety tips!

*DO NOT use public Wi-Fi networks to shop online. Public Wi-Fi is not secure!

*DO NOT click on links or downloads from an unknown source, whether it’s via email or text message.

*Use a secure Checkout. Before you enter your credit card information online, check that the website address starts with “HTTPS.” The “S” stands for secure. If you don’t see the “S,” don’t enter your credit card information.

*Use a credit card. There are laws that protect you from fraudulent credit card charges. You may not have the same type of protection if you use a debit card.

*DO NOT leave your purse unattended, not even for a moment.

*DO NOT leave packages in plain view in your vehicle.  Keep your vehicle secured and put your valuables in your trunk when possible.

*When shopping during evening hours, park in a well-lit and heavily traveled area.*Carry a minimal amount of cash for purchases.*Avoid overloading yourself with packages. *Be aware of your surroundings when going to and from your vehicle.*Have your car keys ready before you get to your car.*Require a signature for your packages.*Give specific delivery instructions to the shippers.*Remove your packages once they arrive at your front door.
