Missouri-St. Louis men’s golf wins Arch Cup behind strong team performance

The University of Missouri-St. Louis men’s golf team, ranked 21st nationally, secured the Arch Cup title on Tuesday at Gateway National Golf Links in Madison, Illinois. The Tritons finished with a combined 36-hole score of 562 (280-282), outpacing runner-up Drury by 12 strokes.

Junior Dani Solavera led the team, earning individual medalist honors with a total score of 136 (70-66). He won by two strokes over Drury’s Ellton Bostrom. “Joining Solavera on the All-Tournament team were junior Benjamin Berger and sophomore Logan Mayo who each finished in a tie for fourth with a score of 140. Berger shot back-to-back rounds of 70 while Mayo shot a 68 in the morning round and a 72 in the afternoon session.”

Seniors Andy Hennen and Leo Baudry contributed to the team’s performance, finishing tied for 13th and 19th respectively. Hennen posted scores of 72 and 74 for a total of 146, while Baudry recorded identical rounds of 74 for a total of 148.

Sophomore Campbell Cox competed as an individual and tied for 24th with scores of 74 and 75. Junior Ludvig Granlund tied for 33rd with rounds of 74 and 78, while freshman Nate Warren tied for 49th after shooting an opening round of 84 followed by a second-round score of 74.

The team’s final score ranks as the fifth best for a two-round event in school history. Solavera’s individual mark is tied for the fourth lowest ever recorded by a UMSL player over two rounds.

UMSL will next compete at the Midwest Collegiate tournament hosted at Rock Hollow Golf Club in Peru, Indiana on September 28.
