Congratulations to St. Louis County Parks' new Park Rangers!

Ranger recruits undergo 8 weeks of initial training plus 4 to 6 weeks of field training. They are taught:

- Diversity

- Legal studies, civil process, constitutional law, ordinances

Defensive tactics, de-escalation, firearms, pepper spray, and ASP Baton

- Emergency Responses including domestic violence, missing persons, building clearing, active shooter, report writing, and interview techniques- Emergency vehicle operations

- First Aid, CPR, AED and Narcan

- Drug identification

- Incident command and communication- Traffic control

- Wildlife code

Tracking, searching, and basic orienteering
