The Maryland Heights Police Department has received a grant for seat belt enforcement, to help reduce motor vehicle injuries and deaths. We will be increasing traffic enforcement to increase seat belt use in our community over the next several weeks.
Seat belts are proven to be one of the best ways to save your life in an accident. MoDOT reported that 2,884 people died in vehicle accidents in 2019-2021, 65% of the vehicle drivers and passengers killed were NOT wearing their seat belts. And, over 14,000 people were seriously injured.
Help prevent accident fatalities and injuries by buckling up every time, day or night. It's not just a safe thing to do, it's the law.
