University of Missouri-St. Louis assistant golf coach Scott Worley has been recognized with the 2025 Jan Strickland Outstanding Assistant Coach Award. This award, presented by TaylorMade Golf Company, honors an assistant coach who excels in guiding student-athletes both on and off the course across NCAA Division I, II, III, NAIA, or NJCAA levels.

Worley expressed his gratitude: "To be honored with the Non-Division I Jan Strickland Award, from the family of fellow assistant coaches, is something I will cherish for the rest of my career," he said. He also thanked "the selection committee, the association, and Taylor Made Golf Company for the support of this award."

Since August 2023, Worley has assisted Troy Halterman, Director of Golf Operations at UMSL. Under their guidance, the men's team doubled their top-five finishes from last season and qualified for the NCAA Division II Championship for the first time since 2022. The Tritons achieved a program record for team scoring average (289.19) and other milestones.

The women's team also saw significant success this season with two wins and six top-three finishes before qualifying for their first NCAA Division II Championship appearance since 2022. They broke records in scoring averages and individual performances.

Worley's coaching tenure at UMSL includes achievements such as coaching multiple All-GLVC honorees and contributing to high academic standards within the teams.

Troy Halterman commented on Worley's impact: "He works so hard with our players and has made a big difference to our program... Scott is not just a coach at UMSL." He added that winning a national award like this is a significant honor for their program.

A former player at UMSL himself during 1987-88 and 1991-92 seasons, Worley was part of milestone achievements for the university's golf program. Post-graduation in business administration in 1995, he has dedicated three decades to teaching golf professionally in St. Louis while continuously advancing his qualifications.

In recognition of his efforts beyond coaching duties at UMSL facilities like Glen Echo Country Club, Worley stated: "This award is really about the success of our student-athletes; I feel honored to help them on their journey."

TaylorMade Golf Company has sponsored this prestigious coaching accolade since its inception in 2003.
