UMSL athletics launches fall sports schedules with golf, soccer, volleyball matches

The University of Missouri–St. Louis (UMSL) Tritons are set to begin their fall athletic schedule this week, with multiple teams competing in events both at home and on the road.

Men's Golf will be the first team to compete, hosting the Arch Cup at Gateway National Golf Links in Madison, Illinois on Tuesday. The event will feature UMSL and six other schools from the Great Lakes Valley Conference, including Maryville and Drury.

Women's Soccer starts its season on Thursday evening by hosting Pittsburg State at Don Dallas Field. "The Tritons begin the Stephen Cavalloera hosting Pittsburg State in the season opener on Thursday evening at Don Dallas Field. UMSL, the defending GLVC champs, went 14-4-3 including 9-3-2 in the GLVC last season. The Tritons were picked to finish fifth in the GLVC Preseason Coaches Poll." The team will also play Washburn at home on Saturday.

Men's Soccer begins its third season under head coach Josh Alderson with an away game against Kentucky Wesleyan in Owensboro, Kentucky. "The Tritons enter the third season with Josh Aldersonat the helm and travel to Owensboro, Ky., to take on Kentucky Wesleyan in the season opener for both squads. UMSL finished the 2024 season with a mark of 7-5-6 including 5-3-6 in the GLVC and advanced to the GLVC Tournament for the first time since 2021. The Tritons were picked to finish fifth this season in the GLVC Preseason Coaches Poll."

Volleyball opens its campaign at the McKendree Invitational in Lebanon, Illinois this weekend. "The Tritons open their 2025 season at the McKendree Invitational in Lebanon, Ill., this weekend. UMSL is coming off a 19-9 season last year and its fifth straight trip to the NCAA Tournament. UMSL was picked to finish fourth in the GLVC this season according to the Preseason Coaches Poll." Matches are scheduled against Michigan Tech, Purdue Northwest, Southwestern Oklahoma State, and Minnesota Duluth.

Women's Tennis starts its fall schedule at SIU Edwardsville’s Cougar Invite on Friday and Saturday. "The Tritons begin the fall portion of its 2025-26 schedule competing at the Cougar Invite at SIU-Edwardsville on Friday and Saturday. UMSL returns six players from last season's team including senior and All-GLVC performer Hannah Tse."

Men's and Women's Cross Country launch their sixth competitive season Friday at Springfield’s Prairie Stars Invitational hosted by Illinois Springfield (UIS). "The Tritons open their sixth season of competition this Friday at the Prairie Stars Invitational at UIS Cross Country Course in Springfield, Ill. The women's race begins at 5:30 p.m. with men's race to follow at 6:15 p.m. The women's race will be 5,000 kilometers while men's race will be 7,000 meters."

This week’s calendar reflects ongoing participation by UMSL teams across various sports as they look forward to building upon previous seasons’ achievements.
