Don Dallas Soccer Field | Missouri St. Louis Tritons
The University of Missouri-St. Louis women's soccer team lost 1-0 to Northwest Missouri State on Wednesday evening at Don Dallas Field. The Tritons now have a record of 1-2 for the season, while the Bearcats improve to 2-1.
The only goal of the match came in the 51st minute. Margaret Madden scored her second goal of the season after receiving a high cross from Makenna West, sending the ball across the face of goal and finishing at the back post.
During the first half, UMSL took eight shots and held Northwest without a shot attempt, controlling possession and creating several chances through Josie Maddox's crosses from the left wing. However, they were unable to convert any opportunities into goals.
In the second half, both teams registered five shots each. Olivia Lautz had a notable effort for UMSL soon after entering as a substitute, but Northwest goalkeeper Lily Ellis made the save.
UMSL goalkeeper Rylee Griffith recorded two saves and intervened on a dangerous play by coming out to midfield to clear the ball before an opposing player could reach it.
The Tritons will start conference play against Drury at Don Dallas Field this Sunday at noon.
