Don Dallas Soccer Field | Missouri St. Louis Tritons
The University of Missouri-St. Louis men's soccer team was defeated by Roosevelt University 2-1 on Wednesday evening at Morris Field in Chicago. The Tritons now hold a record of 0-1-1, while the Lakers improve to 2-0-1.
Roosevelt took the lead with two goals midway through the first half. Caco Fernandez scored in the 26th minute off a pass from Noah Vasilev. Less than four minutes later, Rynn Mewes added another goal for his second of the season.
In the first half, Roosevelt had an advantage in shots, outshooting UMSL 11-4 and leading 3-2 in shots on goal.
During the second half, UMSL increased its offensive efforts but did not score until Alexander Ramirez Aoueiss found the lower right corner in the 81st minute for his first collegiate goal.
Despite continued pressure and three more shot attempts by UMSL late in the game, none were on target before time expired.
Roosevelt finished with a total of 16 shots compared to UMSL's 11, but UMSL held a slight edge in shots on goal at 5-4.
UMSL will host Drury for their home and conference opener this Sunday at Don Dallas Field at 2:30 p.m.
