Senior Will Kaempfe | University of Missouri-St. Louis
University of Missouri-St. Louis senior Will Kaempfe has been recognized as the Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) Men’s Cross Country Runner of the Week, according to an announcement from the league office on Wednesday.
Kaempfe, who is majoring in exercise science and hails from Festus, Missouri, earned this honor after his performance at the UIS Prairie Star Invitational on September 5. He finished first among a field of 118 competitors with a 7K time of 21:45.38. His result helped the Tritons secure fifth place out of eleven teams with a total of 139 points.
This marks Kaempfe’s first career Runner of the Week award. The last Missouri-St. Louis men’s cross country athlete to receive this recognition was Benjamin VandenBrink on September 20, 2023.
The Tritons will compete again on Friday, September 12, at the Larry Young Invitational in Columbia, Missouri, held at Gans Creek Cross Country Course. The women’s race is scheduled for 5:30 p.m., followed by the men’s race at 6:15 p.m.
