Freshman midfielder Pepijn van Vliet has been named the recipient of the Pat Hogan Memorial Scholarship for this year. The award was presented to van Vliet before the Missouri St. Louis Tritons' game against Drury on Sunday.

The scholarship honors Pat Hogan, who played soccer at the University of Missouri–St. Louis (UMSL) from 1973 to 1976. Hogan was a member of the 1973 NCAA Division II National Championship team, which ended its season with an undefeated record of 11-0-3. Over his four-year career, UMSL achieved a combined record of 34-17-9 and participated in four NCAA Tournaments. In his senior year, Hogan earned all-region honors after helping lead the team to a 9-8-1 record and an appearance in the NCAA Tournament semifinals.

After being inducted into the UMSL Sports Hall of Fame in 2010, Hogan expressed his wish to create a scholarship for student-athletes who share his passion for soccer and desire to play at the collegiate level. Hogan passed away from amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), also known as Lou Gehrig's disease, in March 2010. The endowed scholarship was established in his memory.

Members of the Hogan family awarded van Vliet a $1,500 scholarship during the ceremony.

Previous recipients of the Pat Hogan Memorial Scholarship include Endi Rizvic and Roman Ryabchenko (2024), Emir Mustajbegovic (2023), JT Goldstein (2022), Blaine King and Chris Harris (2021), John Geerling (2019), Oscar Gordillo and Max Wootten (2018 and 2017), Evan Garrad and Jake Meyerkord (2016 and 2015), Evan Garrad and Connor Carnduff (2014), Evan Garrad (2013), Jeremiah Cooper (2012), and Bill Lacy (2011).
