The University of Missouri-St. Louis women's soccer team secured a 4-0 victory over Southwest Baptist University on Sunday at Don Dallas Field. With this win, the Tritons' record stands at 3-2-1 overall and 2-0-1 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC), while the Bearcats fall to 2-4-1 overall and 0-2-1 in conference play.
Four different players scored for UMSL, marking a season-high for goals in a single match. Josie Maddox opened the scoring in the 50th minute, converting a pass from Aubree Wallace by sending the ball off the far post and into the net. This was Maddox's first goal of the season.
Kennedi Hooks extended the lead in the 63rd minute with her second goal of the year, cutting back at the top of the box before placing her shot into the far side netting. Two minutes later, Rachel Skyberg added another goal from 25 yards out, striking high into the top left corner for her first goal of the season.
Natalie Heib capped off UMSL's scoring in the 75th minute with her first collegiate goal, taking a shot that bounced off the crossbar and down into the net.
UMSL dominated offensively, outshooting Southwest Baptist 33 to 1, with 15 shots on target. Skyberg led with five shots, while Hooks had three—all on target. Goalkeeper Rylee Griffith recorded her third shutout of the year without needing to make a save.
The Tritons will next play against Missouri S&T on Friday, September 26 at S&T Soccer Field in Rolla, Missouri.
