The University of Missouri-St. Louis men's soccer team played to a 1-1 draw against No. 10 Lincoln at Dwight T. Reed Stadium in Jefferson City, Missouri, on Sunday afternoon. The result brings the Tritons' record to 1-2-4 overall and 1-1-3 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC), while the Blue Tigers move to 5-0-1 overall and 3-0-1 in conference play.
UMSL took the lead in the first half with a goal in the 31st minute. After Jack Franklin was fouled, Kyler Sorber delivered a long ball downfield that Melo Mensah collected in the box before chipping it over Lincoln's goalkeeper for his first goal of the season.
Lincoln equalized in the 60th minute when Nkouka Loubasou scored his third goal of the year, assisted by Adam Griffiths and Hadri Lopez.
In the closing stages of the match, UMSL had opportunities to secure a win. Max Matarelli missed a shot from distance in the 80th minute, followed shortly after by another attempt from Sorber that also went wide.
Tritons goalkeeper Jack Franklin made two key saves late in the game to preserve the draw, stopping Adam Benrahou in the 87th minute and denying Griffiths with less than thirty seconds remaining.
Lincoln outshot UMSL nine to four overall and four to two on shots on target. For UMSL, Mensah, Sorber, Matarelli, and Solomon Wanyonyi each registered one shot during the contest. Franklin finished with three saves.
The Tritons will return home this Friday (October 3) for a match against Christian Brothers at Don Dallas Field beginning at 2 p.m.
