Missouri St. Louis men’s golf finishes second at Midwest Collegiate tournament

The University of Missouri-St. Louis men's golf team, ranked 22nd nationally, finished second out of 16 teams at the Midwest Collegiate tournament held at Rock Hollow Golf Club in Peru, Indiana. The Tritons posted a total team score of 883 over three rounds (295-290-298). A second UMSL squad also competed and placed tenth with a score of 908.

Benjamin Berger led the Tritons with an even-par round of 72 on Tuesday, tying for seventh place overall with a three-round total of 217 (71-74-72). Logan Mayo followed closely behind in ninth place, finishing one stroke back at 218 (73-71-74). Campbell Cox and Trigg Lindahl both tied for 18th with scores of 222. Cox shot rounds of 75, 75, and a final round of 72; Lindahl carded rounds of 73, 76, and closed with a one-over-par 73.

Dani Solavera tied for 22nd after shooting rounds of 71, 78, and a final round of 74 to finish at 223. Leo Baudry and Ludvig Granlund both tied for 26th place. Baudry's rounds were highlighted by a second-round score of 68 but bookended by scores of 78 and 79. Granlund recorded scores of 80, then improved to a second-round score of 71 before closing with a round of 74.

Andy Hennen finished tied for fifty-second at a total score of 232 (80-75-77), while Nate Warren ended the event tied for eighty-sixth after posting rounds totaling to a score of 244 (82-79-83).

Hillsdale's Robert Thompson won individual medalist honors with an overall score of 210 (71-69-70), finishing one shot ahead Tiffin's Mitchell Brassard. Tiffin University secured the team championship with an aggregate score of 875 (290-288-297).

UMSL will next compete as hosts at the National Preview tournament scheduled for Monday and Tuesday at Boulder Creek Golf Club in Boulder City, Nevada.

Team leaderboard highlights included Tiffin in first place with an overall team score just eight strokes ahead of UMSL. Rockhurst and Drury shared third place.

"I am proud that our team stayed competitive throughout the tournament," said UMSL head coach.
