The University of Missouri-St. Louis men's soccer team lost 1-0 to Quincy University on Sunday at Don Dallas Field in a match that played a significant role in the race for the final spot in the Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) tournament. With this result, UMSL's record stands at 5-5-5 overall and 4-4-4 in conference play, while Quincy improved to 8-5-2 overall and 6-5-1 in the GLVC.

Quincy is now tied for seventh place with Maryville, both holding 19 points, which puts them three points ahead of UMSL for the last playoff position. The Tritons are currently ninth as they approach the final weekend of league play.

The only goal came early, when Ismael Allimadi delivered a pass through UMSL's defense and Leo Cann scored past Jack Franklin in the 13th minute.

UMSL increased their offensive pressure in the second half, outshooting Quincy 14-6 during that period but managing only two shots on target. In total, UMSL had a 21-10 advantage in shots but trailed Quincy 4-2 in shots on goal.

A key opportunity came for UMSL in the 62nd minute when Roman Ryabchenko attempted a diving header that missed just wide of the left post. Later, after Carlos Moreno Henao committed a foul near the box, Kyler Sorber’s free kick was tipped over by Quincy's goalkeeper Jake Offerman.

Max Matarelli also had an attempt late in the game that went wide. Matarelli led UMSL with four shots off the bench; Mario Garcia added three more attempts.

After Sunday's contest, UMSL recognized its four seniors: Kyler Sorber, Michael Quinn, Colton Milosch and Pablo Nodar.

UMSL will travel to Kirksville to face Truman State this Friday at noon at Bulldog Soccer Park.
