The University of Missouri-St. Louis men's soccer team secured a 2-1 nonconference victory over Christian Brothers on Friday at Don Dallas Field. This win brings the Tritons' overall record to 2-2-4, while the Buccaneers now stand at 5-2-1.
Colton Milosch scored the opening goal in the 17th minute after receiving a pass from Melo Mensah, who was assisted by Michael Quinn. "Milosch made no mistake with the pass, firing it into the top left side to put UMSL up 1-0," according to the team report.
Mensah extended UMSL's lead in the 55th minute following a through ball from Connor Lynd. He moved deep into the box and scored from a tight angle into the left side netting.
Christian Brothers responded in the 62nd minute when Olivier van der Tuin finished a through ball from Juan Minguez Malonda during a one-on-one with UMSL goalkeeper Will Winkler.
Winkler recorded two saves in his first collegiate start and earned his first win. The Tritons had six shots, three of which were on target. Mensah led with three shots, while Kyler Sober contributed two shots, including one on goal.
UMSL is scheduled to play Maryville next Sunday at Maryville Soccer Field, with kickoff set for 2:30 p.m.
