UMSL Tritons announce weekly athletic schedule and recap recent performances

The University of Missouri–St. Louis (UMSL) Tritons athletics teams have a full schedule for the week of October 6 to 12, featuring golf, soccer, volleyball, and cross country competitions.

On Monday and Tuesday, the No. 19 women's golf team is competing at the Beall Fall Classic in Findlay, Ohio. The No. 22 men's golf team is hosting the National Preview in Boulder City, Nevada on both days.

Friday's events include women's soccer hosting McKendree at Don Dallas Field at 5 p.m., followed by men's soccer against McKendree at 7:30 p.m. Volleyball will play away games against Upper Iowa on Friday and Truman State on Saturday. Men's and women's cross country teams are scheduled to participate in the Trojan Invitational in Hannibal, Missouri on Saturday.

Sunday will see more home action with women's soccer facing Illinois Springfield at noon and men's soccer playing Illinois Springfield at 2:30 p.m., both matches taking place at Don Dallas Field.

In recent results, the men's golf team finished second at the Midwest Collegiate tournament held last Monday and Tuesday in Peru, Indiana. The team's total score was 883 (295-290-298), with Benjamin Berger tying for seventh place individually after scoring a combined 217 (71-74-72).

The swimming teams began their season with a dual meet against Saint Louis University last Thursday. The men lost to the Billikens by a score of 155-58 while the women were defeated 154-64. Justice Beard won both the 1,000 and 200 freestyle races and anchored the winning relay team for UMSL's women’s squad. For the men’s team, Mikael Larsson took first place in the 1,000 free event and finished second in the 500 free; Kaleb Suitor won the 100 fly.

The volleyball team opened its home schedule with two wins: a sweep over Illinois Springfield on Friday followed by a five-set victory over Quincy on Saturday. Alayna Santel led offensively during these matches with an average of nearly four kills per set.

Women's soccer extended its unbeaten streak to six games after drawing No.16 Maryville on Sunday; Gwen Maggard scored her second goal of the season from a penalty kick in minute sixty-three.

Men's soccer recorded one win last week—defeating Christian Brothers University by two goals to one—with Colton Milosch and Melo Mensah each scoring once. The Tritons then lost to Maryville five-to-one; Max Matarelli scored his first collegiate goal during that match.
