The University of Missouri-St. Louis women's soccer team secured a 3-0 victory over the University of Indianapolis on Friday at Key Stadium in Indianapolis. The win comes after the Tritons' first conference loss of the season and brings their record to 7-3-2 overall and 6-1-2 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC). The Greyhounds now stand at 1-7-3 overall and 1-6-3 in the GLVC.
The opening goal came in the 41st minute when Karley Kinzinger scored after Kennedi Hooks drew defenders at the top of the 18-yard box and sent the ball across the goal. Kinzinger finished the play with a run to the far post, giving UMSL a 1-0 lead.
In the 62nd minute, Josie Maddox added a second goal for the Tritons. After a corner kick, Julie Stieger passed to Maddox, who was unmarked at the edge of the box and scored with a high shot into the top right corner.
The final goal was scored by Ella Anselm in the 72nd minute, redirecting a header from Taylor Martin after a corner kick taken by Julia Lammert.
Maddox led UMSL with five shots, including two on target. Anselm and Gwen Maggard each had three shots during the match. Goalkeeper Rylee Griffith recorded her sixth shutout of the season with three saves.
The Tritons will continue their road trip with a match against Lewis University on Sunday at Lewis Stadium.
