Isaac Valverde scored his first collegiate goal in the 86th minute, helping the University of Missouri-St. Louis men's soccer team secure a 3-2 win over UIndy at Key Stadium in Indianapolis on Friday. This victory marks the Tritons' first win against the Greyhounds since October 14, 2016.

The game began with UMSL taking the lead in the 29th minute when Melo Mensah intercepted a pass and set up Max Matarelli, who scored at the near post. UIndy responded six minutes later as August Abrahamsen tied the score after moving across the top of the box and finishing at the near post.

Early in the second half, Pablo Nodar put UMSL ahead again following an assist from Matarelli. Nodar's shot went under Greyhounds goalkeeper Joey Schrand’s arm into the net. UIndy leveled once more in the 80th minute when Lucas Bedleg capitalized on a rebound to make it 2-2.

The decisive moment came late in regulation as Mensah assisted Valverde for what became his first goal at college level, sealing a crucial win for UMSL. "Valverde put his game-winning shot into the top center of the goal after Mensah laid the ball back to him at the top of the 18-yard box. It is Valverde's first collegiate goal."

Despite being outshot 17-8 overall and 7-5 on target, Tritons goalkeeper Jack Franklin recorded five saves for his third win this season.

UMSL now holds a record of 4-3-5 overall and will finish their road trip Sunday against Lewis at Lewis Stadium in Romeoville, Illinois.
