The University of Missouri-St. Louis men's soccer team lost 1-0 to Lewis University on Sunday afternoon at Lewis Stadium in Romeoville, Illinois. The match was played in windy conditions. With this result, the Tritons' record moves to 4-4-5 overall and 3-3-4 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC), while Lewis improves to 4-4-6 overall and 3-4-3 in the GLVC.

UMSL had the wind advantage in the first half and recorded the only two shots of that period. Gibson Hunt's attempt was blocked in the 10th minute. Later, Michael Quinn tried to score in the lower left corner, but Lewis goalkeeper Jeremiah Higgins made the save.

In the second half, Lewis created two early opportunities. Hampus Ryno nearly scored from a corner kick, but UMSL goalkeeper Jack Franklin made a save. Shortly after, Jael Chavez set up Mario Ramirez, who passed to Hubert Grele. Grele scored from near the top of the box, beating Franklin for his first goal of the season.

The Tritons managed only one shot in the second half, which Roman Ryabchenko missed in the 67th minute. In the final ten minutes, UMSL had a throw-in deep in Lewis territory. The ball was sent into a crowded penalty area but went wide of the left post.

UMSL outshot Lewis 3-2, but both of Lewis' shots were on target. Hunt, Quinn, and Ryabchenko each had one shot for UMSL. Franklin finished with one save.

UMSL will return home to play Upper Iowa on Friday, October 24 at Don Dallas Field.
