UMSL students receive GLVC's Brother James Gaffney Distinguished Scholar Award

The Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) has recognized 684 student-athletes with the Brother James Gaffney, FSC Distinguished Scholar Award. Among them are 17 athletes from the University of Missouri–St. Louis (UMSL). This award is named in honor of Brother James Gaffney, a former President of Lewis University and two-term Chair of the GLVC Council of Presidents. It acknowledges student-athletes who maintain a perfect 4.0 grade point average throughout the academic year.

The UMSL honorees include Ashley Borowitz from softball, Madison Bottorff from women's swimming, Ansley Casey from women's cross country/track and field, Anna Favaron from women's tennis, Cade Grevengoed from baseball, Willem Hummel and Sean Keys both from men's cross country/track and field, Juliette Lecomte from women's golf, Josie Maddox and Mary Kate Neal both from women's soccer. Other honorees are Mattia Nardi in men's swimming, Barrett Rose in baseball, Luca Saewe in men's soccer, Julia Sandles in softball, Clayton Schneider in men's cross country/track and field, Sophie Steinmetz in women's soccer, and Aubree Wallace also in women's soccer.

This recognition highlights their dedication to academic excellence alongside their athletic commitments.
