The University of Missouri-St. Louis men's golf team has received Presidents Special Recognition status from the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA). This recognition is given to teams that achieve a team GPA of 3.5 or higher during the academic year.
The Tritons recorded a 3.50 GPA this past academic year. According to the university, "This marks the sixth straight year and the seventh time in the last eight years that UMSL has earned Presidents Special Recognition and is the 12th straight year the program has been honored for its academic success by the GCAA."
A total of 292 schools from all three NCAA divisions, as well as NAIA and NJCAA, submitted GPAs of 3.0 or above to qualify for the association's Academic Team Award. Of those, 129 schools earned Presidents Special Recognition Honors by finishing with a team GPA of 3.5 or above.
The GCAA also announced Academic National Champions for each division: Harvard (Division I), Findlay (Division II), Bowdoin (Division III), SCAD-Savannah (NAIA), Iowa Western (NJCAA Division I), Southwestern (Iowa) (NJCAA Division II) and Alabama State (HBCU).
In addition to national recognition, UMSL received the Team Academic All-GLVC award and had seven student-athletes earn individual Academic All-GLVC accolades.
