The Division 2 Athletic Directors Association (D2 ADA) has recognized 116 student-athletes from the University of Missouri-St. Louis (UMSL) with Academic Achievement Awards for the 2024-25 academic year. This program, now in its 18th year, honors Division II student-athletes who have excelled academically.
This year marks a record for the D2 ADA Academic Achievement Awards, with more than 22,000 student-athletes from 202 institutions being recognized. Since the program began, over 190,000 student-athletes have received this honor.
The Pennsylvania State Atlantic Conference led all conferences with 2,051 honorees. Other conferences with more than 1,000 recipients include Conference Carolinas, Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC), Great Midwest Athletic Conference, Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association, Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference, Pacific West Conference, South Atlantic Conference and Sunshine State Conference.
Fourteen institutions will recognize more than 200 student-athletes each on their campuses this year. These include Tiffin University (300), Colorado Mesa University (280), East Stroudsburg University (242), Florida Southern College (241), and several others.
To qualify for the award, a student-athlete must have a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.5 on a 4.0 scale, completed at least two years of college-level work and been an active member of an intercollegiate team during the last academic year. The athletic director must also be a current dues-paying member of D2 ADA.
"Since its inception, this program has been dedicated to celebrating the exceptional student-athletes who define excellence across our Division II landscape," said Traci Murphy, vice president for athletics at Daemen University and current D2 ADA President. "This year, we are thrilled to recognize a record number of deserving individuals, reflecting the unprecedented dedication within our division - not only in athletics but in the classroom as well. This year's record-breaking submissions for both individuals and schools serve as a testament to the Division II way. Thanks to the administrators that nominated these outstanding individuals and much-deserved congratulations to our 22,000-plus recipients."
