Missouri-St. Louis men’s tennis ends fall with win over Missouri Valley

The University of Missouri-St. Louis men's tennis team closed out its fall schedule with a 6-1 victory over Missouri Valley on Sunday at the Dwight Davis Tennis Center. This win brings the Tritons to a 1-2 record for the season.

UMSL secured the doubles point by winning all three matches. Percy Siercke and Daniel Berdecio defeated Alex Ballinger and Gui Silva 6-2 at No. 1 doubles. Henry Roberts and Joan Garros won their match against Richard Tasev and Bogdan Zakharov, also with a score of 6-2. Andrea Ricart and Jose Yañez completed the sweep in doubles, overcoming Pablo Perez and Luca Stadifeld 6-3.

In singles competition, Siercke beat Ballinger with scores of 6-3, 4-6, 10-2 at No. 1 singles. Berdecio defeated Zakharov 6-2, 6-1 in the second singles contest. Roberts came back after losing the first set to win against Silva 0-6, 6-3, 10-8. Garros secured a straight-set victory over Tasev, winning 6-2, 7-5. Yañez was defeated by Vicente Leigh in three sets, 2-6, 6-0, 8-10. Ricart overcame Stadifeld in three sets, finishing 7-5, 2-6, 10-6.

The Tritons are scheduled to resume play in February, when they will face Saint Louis University on February 8 at 2:30 p.m.
