The University of Missouri-St. Louis women's golf team, ranked No. 23 nationally, finished the first day of the Intercollegiate at Nemacolin in fourth place with a combined score of 560 (323-237). The tournament is being held at Mystic Rock Golf Club in Farmington, Pennsylvania. Play was suspended due to darkness with four holes remaining.
Emmy Wahl leads the UMSL Tritons with a 32-hole score of 139 (81-58), putting her in a tie for 11th place overall. Wilma Zanderau opened with an 82 and is currently at 59 in her second round, tying for 17th place. Hillary Currier posted a team-best first round score of 75 but is currently 11 over par in her second round.
Mayan Covarrubias and Brooke Inchiostro are tied for 30th and 32nd respectively; Covarrubias shot an opening round of 85 and stands at 60 in round two, while Inchiostro started with a morning session score of 76 and also sits at 60 in her second round. Hope Williams, competing individually, is currently at +27 with four holes left to play.
North Georgia's Cora Mount and Grand Valley State's June Hsiao are tied atop the player leaderboard at one over par. Grand Valley State leads the team competition with a total score of 635 (301-234).
"Tuesday's final day tees off at 8 a.m. (CDT) with the resumption of round two with the start of round three to follow."
Additionally, UMSL sent three individuals to participate in the McKendree Bearcat Dual Gender event at Far Oaks Golf Club in Caseyville, Illinois. Josefina Hansson holds tenth place halfway through the second round at nine over par. Alaina Ervin is tied for twenty-ninth at sixteen over par, while Abigail Ante is tied for forty-eighth at twenty-four over par.
"The teams will play the conclusion of round two and then head straight into round three. The competition resumes at 8 a.m."
