The University of Missouri-St. Louis men's soccer team played to a 1-1 draw against Truman State on Friday at Stokes Stadium in Kirksville, Missouri. The result leaves the Tritons with a record of 5-5-6 overall and 4-4-5 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC), while Truman State stands at 3-9-3 overall and 2-9-2 in conference play.

UMSL gained one point from the tie but remains two points behind Quincy for the final spot in the GLVC Tournament. To qualify, the Tritons must win their upcoming match against William Jewell and rely on Quincy losing to McKendree. If both teams end up tied with 20 points, Quincy would advance due to its head-to-head victory over UMSL on October 26.

Pablo Nodar opened scoring for UMSL in the 72nd minute after capitalizing on a rebound inside the box, putting his shot past Truman's goalkeeper.

Truman State responded late in the game when Gregory Merritt assisted Henry Jenks, who scored from outside the box into the upper left corner in the 89th minute.

With five seconds remaining, Gibson Hunt earned a penalty kick after dribbling through three defenders and drawing a handball from an opponent. Hunt took the penalty shot aiming for the lower right corner, but Truman's Owen Robben made a save as time expired.

During the match, UMSL outshot Truman State by a margin of 12 to 10, including an advantage of 8 to 5 in shots on goal.

UMSL will conclude its regular season against William Jewell this Sunday at 2:30 p.m. at William Jewell Soccer/Lacrosse Field.
