The University of Missouri-St. Louis volleyball team achieved a 3-1 victory against UIndy on Friday evening at Sue Willey Court in the Ruth Lilly Fitness Center, Indianapolis. This win marks the Tritons' twelfth consecutive victory, bringing their season record to 19-4 overall and 9-0 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC). The Greyhounds now stand at 16-8 overall and 6-2 in conference play.
With this result, UMSL takes sole possession of first place in the GLVC standings, aided by Missouri S&T’s straight-set win over Rockhurst on Friday night in Rolla.
In the opening set, UMSL struggled offensively with a .114 hitting percentage, registering 13 kills and eight errors out of 44 attempts. Despite narrowing an early deficit to two points after Alayna Santel and Iyannah Jackson blocked Paige Parlanti, UIndy responded with three consecutive points and secured the set 25-19.
UMSL found themselves trailing by five in the second set but managed a decisive nine-point run—Skylar Weaver served eight straight points—to take a 20-15 lead. Although UIndy closed the gap to one point late in the set, the Tritons finished strong with a 5-1 run for a 25-20 win.
The third set featured frequent ties and lead changes. After falling behind 13-11, UMSL went ahead with five straight points. The Tritons led by three at 23-20 before UIndy leveled it at 23. Following an error by Parlanti that gave UMSL set point and a subsequent service error from Santel that tied it again, Bridget Cassady's kill put UMSL back on top before they closed out the set following another hitting error from Maddie Lynch.
In the fourth set, UMSL built an early lead only for UIndy to come back and hold an 18-15 advantage. The Tritons then scored five of eight points to close within one after a service error but trailed again when UIndy reached 22 points. Undeterred, UMSL completed a final rally—Cassady contributed two key kills including match point—for a 25-23 win.
UMSL finished with a .234 attack percentage (59 kills vs. 20 errors on 167 attempts). Santel led with 16 kills; Cassady had 14; Hannah Copeland added 12 kills while hitting .550; Maggie Johnson recorded ten kills. Caitlin Bishop tallied 52 assists; Weaver posted nineteen digs; Jackson made five blocks.
UIndy recorded a .241 attack percentage (62 kills vs. 23 errors on 162 chances). Parlanti led all players with twenty-two kills. Carly Fonda provided forty-two assists; Macy Bruton had twenty-five digs; Lynch and Lauren Gips each registered five blocks.
UMSL will play its final regular-season road game Saturday against Lewis University at Neil Carey Arena in Romeoville, Illinois.
