The University of Missouri–St. Louis (UMSL) Tritons are preparing for a series of athletic events from November 7 to November 9. The schedule includes volleyball, cross country, swimming, and women's soccer competitions.
On Friday, November 7, the volleyball team will host McKendree at the Mark Twain Building at 6 p.m. Saturday's events include men's and women's cross country competing in the NCAA Midwest Regional in Somers, Wisconsin at 10 a.m., while the men's and women's swimming teams will face Truman State in Kirksville, Missouri at 1 p.m. On Sunday, November 9, the women's soccer team will play against Missouri S&T at Don Dallas Field at noon.
In recent results, the women's soccer team secured a share of the Great Lakes Valley Conference regular season title and earned the top seed in the conference tournament after two wins over the weekend. "Gwen Maggard and Avery Hesseldenz had two goals apiece to lead the offense," according to UMSL Athletics.
The volleyball team has extended its winning streak to 13 games with two road victories last weekend. "Alayna Santel led the way for the offense with 36 kills including 20 in the five-set win at Lewis on Saturday while Skylar Weaver had 51 digs and Caitlin Bishop averaged 12.78 assists per set on the weekend," stated UMSL Athletics.
In swimming, UMSL split its home dual meet with Rockhurst on Friday. The women’s team won nine out of eleven events for a final score of 140-65, while Justice Beard won two events. The men’s team was narrowly defeated by Rockhurst with a score of 105-100 but managed five event wins led by Mikael Larsson who also claimed two victories.
The men’s soccer season concluded last weekend following a draw and a loss. The team's final record stands at 5-6-6 overall and 4-5-5 within conference play.
Men's basketball began its season at the D2CCA Tip-Off Classic in St. Joseph, Missouri over the weekend with losses to Northwest Missouri (82-79) and Missouri Western (71-63). "Taye Moore and Meechy Phillips averaged 15.0 and 11.5 points per game respectively to lead the offense," as reported by UMSL Athletics.
