The University of Missouri-St. Louis (UMSL) women's soccer team is set to host Missouri S&T in the quarterfinal round of the Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) women's soccer tournament. The match will take place on Sunday at 12 p.m. at Don Dallas Field.
Tickets for the game are available online, with prices set at $10 for adults and $8 for youth ages 4-17.
UMSL secured a share of the regular season GLVC championship and earned the top seed in the tournament following a 7-0 victory over William Jewell and McKendree's tie at Quincy. This marks the first regular season title in program history for UMSL. The Tritons hold a record of 12-3-2 overall, including an 11-1-2 mark in conference play, and aim to become the first team to win consecutive conference titles since McKendree achieved this in 2016 and 2017.
Missouri S&T enters as the eighth seed after defeating Southwest Baptist 2-0, combined with Truman State's loss to Maryville. The Miners have an overall record of 8-3-2 and finished 6-5-3 in GLVC play. They tied with Lewis for seventh place but lost out on seeding due to a head-to-head defeat.
The teams previously met on September 26 in Rolla, where UMSL won 1-0 thanks to Ella Anselm's goal late in the match.
Statistically, UMSL ranks third in goals scored (36), leads the conference in assists (38), and is tied for second in total points (110). Defensively, they are tied with McKendree for fewest goals allowed this season (nine) and have recorded ten shutouts.
Gwen Maggard leads UMSL with sixteen points from five goals and six assists, while Josie Maddox follows with fourteen points from six goals and two assists. Sixteen different players have scored for UMSL this season.
Goalkeeper Rylee Griffith has eight shutouts—tied for most in the conference—and ranks second in goals against average (0.552) as well as fourth in save percentage (.827).
For Missouri S&T, Adriana Benassi tops the conference with six game-winning goals, is second overall in both points (30) and goals scored (13). Allie Workman and Nathalie Bello each have three goals this season. Goalkeeper Anastasia Barcom has played more than 1,330 minutes, posted six shutouts, conceded eleven goals, and holds a goals against average of 0.74.
The winner of Sunday's match will move on to face either Quincy or Drury next Friday at Creve Coeur Soccer Park.
