UMSL women’s soccer clinches GLVC tournament spot with win over Upper Iowa

The University of Missouri-St. Louis women's soccer team secured a 3-0 victory over Upper Iowa at Don Dallas Field on Friday, clinching a spot in the Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) Tournament. This win marks the third consecutive 3-0 result for the Tritons, improving their record to 9-3-2 overall and 8-1-2 in conference play. Upper Iowa's record drops to 3-10-2 overall and 1-9-1 in the GLVC.

Aubree Wallace scored the opening goal for UMSL in the 18th minute after redirecting a cross from Karley Kinzinger to the near post. It was Wallace's first goal of the season.

Julie Steiger made a key defensive play in the 33rd minute by clearing a shot from Eve Russell off the goal line, maintaining UMSL's lead.

In the 38th minute, Olivia Lautz scored her first collegiate goal after Steiger sent a cross into the box, which Lautz finished into the top netting.

The third goal came in the 56th minute. Julia Lammert initiated the play with a cross into the box that Natalie Heib sent to the far post, where Danni Cotter redirected it into the net for her first collegiate goal.

UMSL goalkeepers Rylee Griffith and Allysa Wolf combined to keep a clean sheet. The Tritons outshot Upper Iowa 18-4 overall and had an 8-2 advantage in shots on target.

UMSL will conclude its home regular season schedule against Quincy on Sunday at noon. The team plans to celebrate Senior Day following the match.
